Meet the Founder
Heather Besaw
Equal parts refined and a little bit playful.
I've always been drawn to beauty in the details — fresh flowers, thoughtfully prepared coffee, and spaces that feel calm the moment you walk in. I love creating environments that feel elevated and intentional, yet still warm and welcoming… the kind of places where you can relax without thinking twice.
But I also don't believe life — or spaces — should ever feel too serious.
I'm someone who can be deeply passionate about something one moment, and completely laid back the next. I love meaningful conversations, but I also love to laugh, be a little goofy, and enjoy the simple, everyday moments.
At the center of everything for me are my faith and my family. My love for Jesus and the time I spend with my family shape who I am and how I approach life — with gratitude, care, and a desire to create spaces where people feel genuinely welcomed.
That balance — thoughtful yet relaxed, intentional yet a little unexpected — is exactly what inspired Pour Over Café. Because the best spaces don't just look beautiful… they feel good to be in.
Where it began
My Story
Some dreams stay quietly in your heart for a long time.
For me, that dream has always been a coffee shop — not just a place to grab a drink, but a place where people feel something the moment they walk in. A place where conversations happen naturally, where time slows down just a little, and where a simple cup of coffee can brighten someone's entire day.
I've lived in the Sheboygan area since 2000, and over the years this community has truly become home. It's where I've built relationships, grown personally and professionally, and learned how much small, meaningful interactions can matter.
Throughout my career, I've worked in roles centered around leadership, organization, and improving systems — always looking for ways to make things work better and serve people more thoughtfully. But no matter what I was doing, this dream never really left me.
It stayed with me quietly in the background for more than 25 years.
At the same time, I've always been drawn to flowers, gardens, and the feeling that comes from being surrounded by natural light and greenery. There's something about a greenhouse — the warmth, the calm, the way it invites you to slow down — that has always felt special to me.
What if a coffee shop lived inside a greenhouse?
The Moment Everything Changed
There was always one place that stayed in my heart — Caan's Floral & Greenhouses!
I had been going there for over 20 years. It was one of those places I returned to again and again, not just for the flowers, but for how it made me feel. Peaceful. Grounded. Welcome.
There's a warmth to Caan's that's hard to put into words — the kind that comes from people who genuinely care. The team is always kind, helpful, and smiling, and the space itself is filled with so many thoughtful details.
It's the kind of place you can wander through a little longer than you planned… and not want to leave.
For a long time, I didn't think it was something that could actually happen. So I gently set the idea aside… while somehow never fully letting it go.
And then one day… I asked. And they said yes!
I can still picture that moment so clearly — the mix of excitement, disbelief, and overwhelming joy. I was jumping up and down. I was happy crying. It felt like something deep inside me was finally being given the chance to come to life.

Why Pour Over Café Exists
Pour Over Café exists because we all need places where we can slow down.
Life moves quickly. Days fill up. Moments pass before we even realize they're gone. And in the middle of all of that, it's easy to forget how meaningful it is to simply pause.
This café was created to be that kind of place. A place where coffee, gardens, and community come together in a way that feels both peaceful and welcoming. A place where you don't feel rushed — where you can stay a little longer, have one more conversation, or simply enjoy a quiet moment to yourself.
Whether you're stopping in after a walk, meeting a friend, shopping for flowers in Caan's, or taking a break in the middle of a busy day, my hope is that you feel something here — something calm, something genuine, something that stays with you.
